Howard Gross has dedicated his career to making complex ideas easier to access, understand, and use.

To that end, Howard works with C-suite executives, senior managers, and other thought leaders to communicate difficult issues to diverse stakeholders, Over the years, he has counseled – through his own firm and leading agencies – multinational clients in information and communication technologies, media, financial services, management consulting, health sciences, the environment, education, and research services.

As the former Senior Director of Global Communications for the Nielsen Company, he joined the firm after helping to resolve several major crises and served as an internal consultant to top-level executives in both its media and consumer divisions. There, he provided public relations and content strategy support for Nielsen’s television, Internet, mobile, and social media operations, launching the firm’s first executive blog and co-founding its corporate social network. He also advised senior management in promoting their digital and data services in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

Prior to that, Howard was a Senior Vice President at the strategic communication firm Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, managing content strategies for executive communication, crisis and issues management, thought leadership, public affairs, investor relations, and corporate social responsibility. In that role, he was one of the principal communication consultants for the AOL Time Warner merger.

As a writer, Howard was an editorial adviser to the Committee on Economic Development, and one of the authors of its report America’s Basic Research: Prosperity Through Discovery, which was incorporated by the U.S. House of Representatives into its National Science Policy Study. What is more, he has ghostwritten books and penned articles under his own by-line that explore the opportunities and challenges associated with digital systems; some of which have been translated into other languages, including Chinese.

Over the years, Howard’s clients have included Akamai Technologies, American Express, AOL Time Warner, Apple, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), AT&T, Cablevision, Chevron-Texaco, Credit Suisse, GTE, IBM, MTV, Pfizer, United Healthcare, USA Network, and Xerox.

Moreover, Howard was a faculty member at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s School of Management and Technology, where he co-founded one of the first MS/MBA programs to focus on digital communication. He designed curriculum and taught courses in technology applications and management, exploring how digital networks and interactive systems impact public relations, marketing and mass communications.

Howard began his career as a broadcast journalist in New York, Chicago and California.
